Best Practices for Importing Assets into ServiceChannel

Your digital inventory of assets can be easily exported from Equip ID and imported into other platforms or systems. This article shares the basic steps, and best practices, to follow when importing your data into ServiceChannel.

1. Download your inventory – View your asset inventory from the Equipment & Assets page of the Equip ID Platform. Apply a filter if you'd only like to export / import a select group of assets. See more.

2. Map Equip ID Columns into ServiceChannel template – Using the guide below, paste your desired asset information from your downloaded inventory into the appropriate ServiceChannel Asset Template. Best practice - use two monitors when possible.

3. Add 'Asset Tag' URL – To populate the 'Asset Tag' column, you will paste the following formula into the excel cell:

="https://equip.id/trustedtag/"&M2

The 'M2' above represents the 'Tag ID' column, which should contain the same Tag ID found on your Equip ID Tags. Paste this formula into all cells in the 'Asset Tag' column. Next, select all values in the column, select copy, then paste in place as 'values'. This will ensure a link is uploaded, and not a formula.

4. Upload – Upload your assets into ServiceChannel from directly within their platform. See more.
